Sounds more similar to GoodBudget than EveryDollar. It allows for different income patterns, like getting paid every two weeks. Like GoodBudget, you receive income which sits in an Income Cash Pool until you “fund” your envelopes. That was issue that prevented me from switching to EveryDollar, you’re essentially doing a monthly budget, but it doesn’t make clear if you’re spending more quickly than your paychecks will cover given the timing of those paychecks. Currently, the UI is Flash based which isn’t great, but they’re close to a complete rewrite of the user interface which looks much cleaner and modern.

Yeah, we love GoodBudget and probably won’t try to switch again anytime soon. I looked on EveryDollar’s site and I can’t see anything that mentions downloadable excel files. If they have that capability it is not very well advertised. Thanks for checking out the video and our blog post!

I’ve been using GoodBudget since 2013 and love it. But I recently started listening to Davey Ramsey and was curious about Every Dollar and thinking of switching since it’s unlimited envelopes. That’s my only hang up on GB, that I’m limited to 20 envelopes. But based on what you described, I think I’m sticking with GB. Does Every Dollar give an option to download an excel file of your transactions, the way that GB does? Because if so that might be a work-around to the lack of reports.
